I am still sick but I worked with Richie today. I had a bit of an epiphany in that I realized there is a market for web design in this area. While this may seem obvious, I did not consider it as a career option at this point. I am not the best coder in the world but I think this is something I can do. We'll see if it works out enough to pay the bills. I need to find something to keep myself afloat. It's not easy.

Richie is working during the day today so I am not working for him. This is OK, I guess, as I am fighting a head cold. I need the hours but I think I should rest. I looked around my place for more things (read: remnants of my childhood) to sell. I have a few ideas but I need to do more research.

I worked with Richie today. He was not upset that I "called in" yesterday because I had to help my friend. He gave me a printer to use. This is super because I can print out contact lists and resumes to aid in my job search. Thank you, Richie!
The action figures are now being auctioned. It's kind of sad to see them go.

I spent most of today driving around with my friend. He had to pick up his car from the wrecker company that took it away yesterday. He also had to do some business in town. While he was busy I tried to find work. This search was to no avail.
I called Richie tonight with an idea for some online auction items. He seemed agreeable and I took pictures of some GI Joe figures that I had. While I don't like selling away remnants of my childhood, I need money to live. It is so great to have to make these decisions.

I added some pictures to the Webshots site while I continued cleaning up the files on Megatron. I bet I'll never get to that OS re-install...
I picked up a friend from a nearby police station today. That's always fun. We watched the Superbowl when we got back to his place. I lost $5.00 because I opted for the Bears when we made our bets. Such is life.

I helped Dana move today. As with any move, it was deemed a veritable cluster fuck. He moved from a first floor apartment to a second floor apartment approximately two streets up and around the corner. We had to carry his stuff up a semi-rickety set of stairs on the outside of the apartment building. I am glad I brought my shovel so we could make a path. Even though we haven't had that much snow this winter (so far, anyway) there was some "accumulation" on the ground and the stairs.
The first truck-load went well. Dana mentioned that there would be a problem with his couch. You see, there wasn't much room at the top of the stairs to maneuver. There was a support post right in the way of where one could conceivably "spin" a piece of furniture. We both scratched our heads for a while and came up with a few ideas that didn't seem to be worth the effort.
The next truck-load included the couch and Dana's mattress and box-spring. I realized that the box-spring wouldn't make it around the support post, either. However, there were some cross members also in the way. I thought the box-spring and the couch could make it if we removed the cross members. Of course, we'd have to tie a rope to both pieces to get them in the apartment that way. The box-spring went up easily. The couch was placed on a ladder and I pulled it with the rope while Dana pushed and climbed up the ladder. Eventually, the couch made it. Dana feared that the ladder would break because it started to bow with every foot of travel. This was a pretty sketchy moving exercise. It wasn't helped by the fact that the neighbor below came outside to see what we were doing. I guess the hammering gave us away. The neighbor was concerned that his satellite dish was knocked out of alignment. He checked and found that it was not. Everything seemed to work out well.
After the bulk of his stuff was moved, Dana took me out for a nice dinner at Chili's. I had a super-fine hamburger and a nice side of fries.

Today is Friday. Usually that brings thoughts of the weekend and whatnot. I can still feel the sting of the week.
The work I did with Richie today went smoothly. His neighbor has a small dog named "Bear." Bear was loose and visited Richie's yard for a while. The dog was friendly enough, I guess. He was so friendly that he decided to urinate on one of the tires on the truck. This was nice. I am not mad at Bear. Actually, I find the whole thing quite humorous and a precursor to what would come for this day.
Richie gave me some aluminum cans and many old motherboards to take to the scrap-yard. I used to deal with scrap metal before I moved. Now I don't have a place to store the metal and I'm not too keen on taking things apart in the neighborhood where I live. There's a reason to live alone in the woods... Anyway, the idea was to make this one trip to the scrap-yard (or "metal recycling facility" for the euphemism-inclined) to get some money. It turns out that the scrap-yard isn't really buying old motherboards anymore. The "boss" said that what they had been selling went to people overseas who didn't want most of what was available. I was offered a pittance for what I brought. I decided to take the whopping $3.50 rather than drive around trying to find another buyer. The aluminum cans brought in some money but barely paid for the gas I spent going there. This incident capped off a most uninspiring week. I feel like a moron.

I worked with Richie today. I'm not sure if I actually did anything but I was there. There is a plan to make up some power supply extensions but we need to get some parts to complete that goal. I am "scheduled" to go to work tomorrow. This is good. I'll take all the hours I can get at this point.
I set up Starscream with some anti-virus software. I hope to be using Starscream more often as I need its hard drive as a temporary storage spot for some data on the "new" hard drive in Megatron.
